Opening Sequence and Credits Analysis Of

DogHouse

Characters; Graham,
Vince,
Niel,
Mikey,
Patrick,
Matt,
Graham.

Locations; It is located in West Sussex but in the opening sequence there are a number of locations as it shows each character in either their own home or in someone else's, but it gives you an insight of the characters individual personality/life.
It starts with a shot of a block of flats, Next shot is of a very disgusting bedroom floor, with half eaten curry's still in the container surrounding a bed, this is when you meet Vince. You get the impression that Vince is a lazy middle aged man who properly doesn't have a job and lives of job seeker's allowance. When he talks he sounds like he's from London, and uses foul language. But that on in the opening sequence you find out Vince has just got a divorce from his wife and it explains why he can't be bothered!
Next location is when we meet Neil, He's standing outside of a house in the front garden, but you cant see the house you only see the wall he's standing against, It's a lady friends house, Niel seems to be a lady's man how he talks to the girl, he's very cheeky and rude. He has a really nice car so he must have some money in his pocket.
The next location is a tidy little kitchen, you are greeted by what it seems as a gay couple having an argument, this is Graham and his partner, there's not much to say about graham except maybe he's a little argumentative.
My favourite location is when we meet Mikey, he is walking out of his and his girlfriends apartment for her to follow moaning about him going away, Mikey seems confident and cheeky as how he replies to some of his girlfriends remarks, he's laid back and doesn't seem to take life too seriously.
Next up is Patrick, his house looks well looked after and that is properly thanks to his angry nagging wife. Patrick seems to get very stressed when being around his wife, and uses his iPod to calm him down by listening to stress relief. He doesn't seem to really care or listen to what his wife is saying but he properly has a reason for that.
The character in his own personal location is Matt, He works in a comic book store witch implies he's a bit nerdy, He cares a lot about the comic books and expresses that when a little boy is winding him up about a certain comic. He gets extremely angry with the young boy and curses at him and tells him to get out. After meeting all the characters you see each characters who were angry calling their other half or little boy a "Bastard" This is where i got the idea that the theme was about relationships with partners. Or something to do with friendship with the lads.
You don't really learn much about the story, you get the basics, that each member of Vince's friendship group has left their partners or job for the weekend to have a lads weekend, and that their partners are not exactly the happiest about it which suggests why the film is called DogHouse.
The thing is about the Genre is that from the opening sequence you can't really tell it's going to be a horror, it looks more of a comedy film that a horror, but maybe that's what they want you to think. The only bit that makes it look ab it horror is when the title comes up in big bold white letters then blood is splattered over it.

You don't really hear much music until the ending of the opening sequence, when they are going into the pub, its sort of rock but a more beaty rock, Lads music, as the song is talking about women.
The companies involved with this film production are: Canaby International (Presents),
Carnaby Film Productions, Hanover Films (In Association With) and Molinare Studio (In Association With).
