Research...

Hammer Film Productions is a film production company based in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1934, the company is best known for a series of Gothic "Hammer Horror" films made from the mid-1950s until the 1970s. Hammer also produced science fictionthrillersFilm Noir and comedies – and in later years, television series. Hammer films had low budgets, but nonetheless appeared lavish, making use of quality British actors and cleverly designed sets. During its most successful years, Hammer dominated the horror film market, enjoying worldwide distribution and considerable financial success. This success was due, in part, to distribution partnerships with major United States studios, such as Warner Bros.

When Hammer made the first film of their period horrors "The Curse of Frankenstein" they had a bit of a problem as they weren't financially stable, they then had to get American Studio's to invest in the film, but unfortunately American Studio's didn't believe that the film was going to be successful, they thought of it as a risk and held money back from the production.

Enrique Carreras and William Hinds were the founders of Hammer Films in 1932, but they were only distributors, like advertising films and things like that, they had established the company Hammer Horror, it wasn't until their sons got involved and helped with the company, they expanded it and it payed off as they were recognised by the BBC. They made their name by helping with the production of The Quatermass Xperiment with Nigel Kneale, As that was a success they went onto Frankenstein.

James Ward...Special Effects.

Special Effects

On Friday morning we had a guest, his name is James Ward. He went to the National Film School Of Ireland, He also done Model Making and Production, And Design for Film and Television. I was supposed to be the model for James, so he could make the mask from my face, but unfortunatly i was 10 minutes late and someone already took my place, I ended up becoming his assistant, and helped him throughout the demonstration, so I didn't get the chance to write down all the names of things.

Creativity

The creative person I have selected is Lady GaGa. Lady Gaga is a singer/song writer and also plays the keyboard. I think Lady Gaga is creative because she has the abilty to write songs that people enjoy and also make a living off it. Lady Gaga's dress sence is deffinatly what makes her stand out. She's extremely adventurous with her style and sometimes it's a little too much for example wearing meat for clothes, a hat, shoes and a bag!.
Creativity

Creativity is a mental process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the existing ideas or concepts, fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight.

Mise-En-Scene

Mise-En-Scene

I was working with Sunny on this little project, we created Gameboys and thats what our credits were on, the background was just a plain blue and scattered around the Gameboy was lego peices and lego men. Me and Sunny couldn't quite agree on what props to put around, Sunny thought we didn't need any and by the time we had to take the pictures the only thing we could find was lego. So in each picture we took of the different Gameboys we would swap the lego around so it wasn't always in the same place. I supose the lego does go quite well with the gameboys as when we play the still video through it looks like they are moving how they would on a gameboy game. The props say that the film is maybe about a little boy, as they are things a little boy would play with or maybe about a mans childhood.

Wild Wild West.

Wild West

In class we have been looking at western videos and evan shot a scene in groups out of "The good the bad the ugly". This week we have been making poster like pictures to do with the western opening sequence we will be making later on in the year, with these poster pictures we will be putting them into final cut and animating them to move. my first one is a horse in the stars, i think i've seen something like it before and i really liked it, it's like a shadow in the sky, and i think its really affective.

My second poster is two men standing on a mountain with big rain clouds above them, and it's raining very bad, this one doesn't really relate to the type of movie it will be showing for but I was just trying different things out on Photoshop.

My last poster is pretty plain and simple, its three cactus' with some grass and a bush, it gives the audience a good idea of what sort of scenery is going to be in the film. It has a sheriff badge as well because as every one knows in western films there's always a sheriff.
This is my Western Credit sequence;

Logo!

My Logo

As we will be making our own music video later on in the year we have been thinking of logo designs, we had to research logo's and then sketch out some of our own. I decided to  have an old styled television set with the "technical difficulties" on the screen, I decided I wanted the colours to flash different colours to make it more interesting, and then at the end "Technophobe" would come up on each of the different colours, and that is the name of the organisation. When I tried animating it on final cut it was very difficult and I still haven't worked out how to make them all do what i want.
Update:
I have now completed my animation, I have had to change it a bit as it was too complicated and I wouldn't of had enough time anyway to do everything i wanted too. So now instead of having "Technophobe" on every colour it's only on one colour as it was playing up and I couldn't go back into Photoshop to edit it. And I also wanted different colours underneath so when the colour on top would fade another colour would flash underneath but because i couldn't go back into Photoshop I just had to put a background colour underneath on Final cut. I am very pleased with how my logo has turned out evan though my initial idea has been changed.

New York Video!

New York, New York

New York City. from cmdiploma on Vimeo.

With Steve for a couple of lessons we made an opening shot out of moving pictures and Final Cut. There was a selection on moving clips of skyscrapers, the sky, clouds moving, the statue of Liberty, and many others, In Final Cut we dragged the clips down onto the time bar and in the order we wanted them we then went on to add transitions to the clip, transitions are the bits in the middle when a clip is moving onto the next, you can make it dissolve into the next clip you can do many different styles of transitions. When we started adding the transitions mine went completely wrong, the clips were moving to fast and was very un-organised, I gave up on putting transitions in and just made my clips fade in and out of each other, and then i decided to give it another try and deleted everything I had done so far and started again. When I started again I was very careful to cut the clips at both sides so the transitions would work. And they did work, and above is how it turned out after I figured out how to use the transitions.
